Science Entertainers required for Birthday Parties and School Assemblies

New and Exciting Opportunity to work with Simplified Education

Simplified Education specialises in providing after school centres and private home tuition for Maths and English. At present, we are working with over 500 families in Croydon and its surrounding area, teaching Maths and English from  primary to A level students.

Due to a high parental demand, vacancies have arisen for enthusiastic and passionate scientists to run stimulating, fun and interactive science activities during birthday parties and school assemblies.  The idea has proved to be extremely popular and increasingly in demand and we are therefore looking to  recruit more presenters/entertainers.

At present, most of our clients are based in and around the Croydon area. Therefore, if you are interested in this post, please consider your location. This job is not full-time, but would be perfect for someone considering a career in teaching, either as a second job or as a a stepping stone into the profession.

What are we looking for?

·         UK University Students/Graduates who have a passion for Science (a Science degree or experience working as a Science teacher is not necessary)

·         Fluent spoken and written English is essential, along with excellent presentation skills

·         Bubbly personality, with the ability to entertain and manage children for at least an hour.

·         Creativity and productivity are essential.

·         Previous experience of working with children or within a similar environment.

·         Must have a full and enhanced CRB or be willing to obtain one (£36.00)

·         Willingness to work as self-employed

·         Willingness to obtain own personal liability insurance

·         Must own a decent and reliable car - this job involves quite a lot of driving

·         Patient, dynamic, lively, animated,  and friendly

·         Be able to promote the company’s profile

·         Be able to emphasise and prove that Science is fun!

You will earn an excellent wage, starting from  £50.00 per hour, depending on skills and previous experience. We will also provide you with a strong reference. Working hours tend to be after school (15:15 to 16:15) or before school (7:45 to 8:45). Birthday parties tend to occur on Saturdays and Sundays, with our working hours ranging from 10:00 to17:00, in order to cover events in different locations. Once you’re established and more experienced, you could earn up to £400 per week.

This is a highly rewarding job, and we are keen to find the right people. We will contribute £20 to the CRB charge and as such, should you be offered a job, we expect a commitment to working for the company.

They should be written as Word documents or in Microsoft Powerpoint form, be suitable for children from the age of five, and cover the following:

·         Topic title

·         Objectives of the presentation: what will the children learn, discover, and prove by the end of the session

·         Resources: make a list of the resources that you are going to use. You might need to improvise or pick simple and cost effective resources, as expenses are not covered by the company and must be covered by the individual entertainers

·         Summary: step-by-step instructions as to how to achieve the desired outcome
